I’m back to review the whole single. Just so you all know, I really really enjoying reading reviews because I love seeing things from anothers’ point of view. This is not meant to be insulting, and I do apologize if this comes across as rude. If you wish to discuss this with me further, feel free to message me. I would love to hear your opinion.
未来のミュージアム (Mirai No Museum) : After letting this song play for a little while, I’ve come to be fond of it, even though I find it to be a much less mature sounding song for Perfume. I love the melodic electronic interlude after the second chorus, and how some of the same sounds flow into the third and final chorus. I think it matches the Doraemon movie very well and has a very cute concept with fantastic outfits. On the other hand I really don’t care for the choreography. I think Mikiko could have done a much better job, especially with the foot work. On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being I found the song to be terrible and 10 being this is my favorite song in the world, I would give Mirai No Museum a 6 out of 10.
だいじょばない (Daijobanai) : I’m actually pretty nervous about reviewing this song because it looks like the majority of you really like Daijobanai. And while I don’t hate it… I really don’t like the majority of this song. When I first heard the 30 second leaked teaser, I was very excited to get my hands on the full version. I was sure it was going to be fantastic. And for many of you, it sounds as though it was just that. To start off, I’m not fond of a song starting off with such a loud, and fast vocal and beat combination. I found it quite jarring. On top of that, the musical bits in between the chorus and the first (and only verse mind you) are just the same melody as the chorus. I would have preferred to hear a different cord or melody. The verse, I thought was way to short and almost sounded like a completely different song. It really set itself apart from the rest, and that’s also how I feel about the what I believe some people were calling “wobs” after the second chorus. It was by far my favorite part of the song. Very techno pop, very dance-y. I really enjoyed that musical interlude. How ever, I found myself disliking the song once the vocals came back into the mix. And not only the vocals, but a very electronic and whiny sounding 8th note and 16th note combination. And of course, the drum line is very similar to that of songs by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. And yes, I’m well aware that Yasutaka writes for Kyary, but I was just disappointed at the uncanny similarity. All-in-all, I thought Daijobanai was, in a sense, annoying. On a scale of 1 - 10, 1 being I found the song to be terrible and 10 being this is my favorite song in the world, I would rate Daijobanai a 3 out of 10. Please don’t get me wrong. I loved the musical interlude after the second chorus, but it didn’t match the rest of the song. In the end, I feel like Daijobanai is 2 or 3 songs mashed into one.
Thank you.
